Low back pain of the elderly people in rural area

Abstract

|
|
The purpose of this study was to explore the degree of low back pain and coping strategies of the elderly people living in rural area. About 80% of the elderly people in a rural area reported that they have had the low back pain. In addition, most of them expressed their perceived level of the pain very serious. Nevertheless, very few elderly people visited health centers to alleviate their low back pain. Instead of it, many elderly people depended upon customary remedies which were irrational to cure their low back pain due to their low educational level or lack of knowledge concerning health care. Thus, it is discussed that health care education should be given to the elderly people in the rural area.
